Care

Light exposure

Prefer a location in full sun or partial shade for optimal flowering. Speedwell tolerates sunny areas well, but appreciates slight afternoon shade in very hot regions. Insufficient light slows growth and reduces flowering.

Watering

Water moderately, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. During active growth (spring-summer), increase frequency if the soil dries out. In winter, significantly reduce watering. Let the soil dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot.

Soil and substrate

Use well-drained, light and fertile soil. Standard potting mix mixed with sand or perlite works perfectly. This plant adapts to poor soils but prefers an aerated structure for good root development.

Pruning and maintenance

Pinch young stems in spring to promote a bushy and compact shape. Regularly remove faded flowers to extend flowering. In late winter or early spring, prune lightly to remove dried parts and rejuvenate the plant.

Fertilizer

Apply diluted balanced fertilizer once a month during the growth period (April to August). Too much nitrogen-rich fertilizer promotes foliage at the expense of flowers. Stop feeding in fall-winter.

Pests and diseases

Speedwell is generally robust. Watch for powdery mildew if humidity is excessive and air circulation is poor. Ensure good ventilation and avoid wetting the foliage. Spider mites may appear in dry conditions: maintain moderate humidity.
