Care
Watering
Elegant rumex tolerates drought well once established. Water moderately at planting time and during active growth. In dry climates, occasional watering in summer is enough; avoid excess water which promotes rot.
Light Exposure
Plant in full sun for optimal growth and abundant flowering. This plant also adapts to partial shade, though development will be less vigorous. Choose a bright location.
Soil
Elegant rumex thrives in any well-drained soil, even chalky or poor soil. It's undemanding and tolerates poor conditions. Lightly improve the soil at planting time with compost if it's very compacted.
Pruning and Maintenance
You can cut back the plant in spring to encourage denser branching. Remove spent flowers to extend blooming. Light cleanup in late autumn is sufficient; this plant doesn't require severe pruning.

This plant is generally robust and little prone to disease. Watch for stagnant moisture which can cause root rot. Aphids and flea beetles may affect it slightly; good drainage and proper site hygiene reduce problems.
