Carex halleriana was named in honor of Swiss botanist Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777), one of the most prolific naturalists of the Alps. This small alpine sedge was already used in the 19th century in British rock gardens and mountain gardens, where it symbolized the discreet elegance of alpine flora.

Plant in spring or early autumn, avoiding spells of intense heat. Pick a plant with healthy foliage and roots that are not exposed. Best time: March, April, May, September.
