Care
Watering
Keep the soil constantly moist, without waterlogging. Paradox sedge tolerates light marshy areas but appreciates regular moisture. In pots, water as soon as the surface dries. Reduce slightly in winter while maintaining some humidity.
Light Exposure
Prefer partial shade to light shade. It will tolerate full sun if the soil remains permanently moist. In warm climates, partial shade protects it from excessive drying and water stress.
Soil
Requires soil rich in organic matter, moist to marshy. Improve soil with compost or peat to increase water retention. Avoid overly chalky substrates; slightly acidic to neutral pH is ideal.
Pruning and Cutting
Cut back faded foliage in late winter or early spring, before new growth. Remove dead or damaged stems throughout the seasons. No severe pruning is necessary; Carex naturally maintain a compact form.
Fertilizer
Apply balanced fertilizer (NPK 10-10-10) once in spring if soil lacks fertility. Sedges grow well in soils rich in organic matter, so annual mulching can suffice. Avoid excess nitrogen.
Diseases and Pests
Very robust, rarely affected by serious diseases. Watch out for root rot in case of prolonged water stagnation. Aphids are exceptional. Check soil aeration and maintain balanced moisture to prevent fungal problems.
