Care
Exposure
Install corn cockle in full sun for optimal blooming. It also tolerates partial shade but will flower less abundantly. Avoid areas that are too humid and windy, as these could damage its stems.
Watering
Water moderately during growth, especially during prolonged drought. Once established, this plant needs little water. Let the soil dry between waterings to prevent root rot issues.
Soil
Corn cockle prefers well-drained and even chalky soil. It adapts to poor soils and doesn't fear aridity. Avoid overly rich soils that encourage foliage at the expense of flowering.
Pruning and cutting
No specific pruning is necessary. Remove spent flowers to extend blooming. At the end of the season, you can let the plant go to seed if you want natural self-seeding the following spring.
